Royalties

Artists can receive royalties on secondary sales on Dartroom. By default, the royalty on NFTs is 5%, but artists can choose between a range of 0% and 10%.

Configuring your royalty

Artists can configure the royalty percentage when minting the NFT. The artist can set the royalty between 0% and 10%.

The royalty is coupled with the commission on primary sales on Dartroom. This spreads out commission to Dartroom between primary and secondary sales. The commission on the primary sale is the chosen royalty percentage plus 5%.

commission = royalty + 5%

The idea behind this system is that NFTs with lower royalties change hands more often. Because they have relatively more secondary sales, Dartroom can lower the primary commission as it is compensated with more secondary commission.

At this moment, Dartroom does not have any partnered NFT marketplaces that guarantee the chosen royalty percentage is honoured. This means that the royalty you receive on secondary sales outside of Dartroom is not guaranteed to match the percentage you choose on Dartroom. But you often do receive a royalty as most platforms payout a royalty to the creator address of an NFT.
